2010 Regional Workshops

CCNC held a series of regional workshops across the country in March 2010. The meetings included presentations on the CCNC’s cultural planning and cultural mapping toolkits, panel discussions from those in the field and facilitated roundtable discussions relevant to each region.

Cultural Mapping and Cultural Planning: Making the Connection

Ontario: March 2-3, MaRS Centre, Toronto, ON
The Ontario Workshop took place March 2-3, 2010 at the MaRS Centre, Toronto and was Sold Out. The workshop was presented by the CCNC in partnership with the City of Toronto, Municipal Cultural Planning Incorporated and the Martin Prosperity Institute.

Cultural Mapping and Cultural Planning: Making the Connection included presentations on Creative City Network of Canada’s cultural planning and mapping toolkits, panel discussions from those in the field and a facilitated discussion on what’s next to give participants the knowledge and connections to move the cultural planning agenda forward in their communities.

Alberta/Saskatchewan: March 17, Millennium Place, Sherwood Park, AB
More than 25 staff in municipal cultural departments from the provinces of Alberta/ Saskatchewan attended the one day workshop in Sherwood Park, Alberta, presented by the Creative City Network of Canada, with funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage. The workshop was hosted by our County of Strathcona members, Teresa Koslo and Chris Munn.

Cultural Mapping and Cultural Planning: Making the Connection brought together staff in municipal cultural departments for an inspiring and informative 1 day workshop on cultural mapping and cultural planning. The workshop featured the Creative City Network of Canada’s two toolkits: Cultural Mapping by Sue Stewart and Cultural Planning by Anne Russo and Diana Butler. The 2010 workshop included a keynote presentation by the toolkit authors, and practical panel discussions on experiences from the fields. This workshop would not be possible without funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage and sponsorship from the County of Strathcona.

BC: March 22, Simon Fraser University - Surrey Campus, Surrey, BC
This was the third in a series of regional workshops presented by the Creative City Network of Canada, with funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage. The workshop was hosted by the City of Surrey in partnership with Simon Fraser University.
