The Creative City Network of Canada (CCNC) is seeking a part-time Member Services & Communications Coordinator to support our members and enhance our organizational communication efforts. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role will be responsible for coordinating member services for CCNC’s 170+ members as well as CCNC’s communications initiatives.

Established in 2002, the Creative City Network of Canada is a small but vibrant national nonprofit fostering knowledge sharing, research, and professional development in local cultural policy and planning. We work to empower municipal staff and local governments in their creative sector development efforts that support artists, heritage, and cultural organizations in their communities. With the support of CCNC, our members leverage arts and culture to create increased community vibrancy, social cohesion and economic development from coast to coast to coast.

Key Responsibilities

Communication Coordination:

  1. Develop an annual communications calendar in collaboration with the Executive Director to ensure timely communications.Coordinate the production of quarterly Creative City News newsletters, including content planning, obtaining contributions, editing, and liaising with graphic designers.
  2. Prepare and distribute a regular e-news digest to members.
  3. Maintain an active presence on social media by posting and engaging with followers.
  4. Monitor media for relevant articles to distribute to members.
  5. Craft stories for promotional purposes.
  6. Ensure website content is current, relevant, updated and adheres to CCNC’s Inclusive Language Guidelines.
  7. Develop and maintain a system to monitor the effectiveness of communication efforts.

Membership Coordination:

  1. Serve as the primary contact for current, past, and potential members, providing exceptional customer service.
  2. Manage the member database, including data entry, maintenance, and reporting.
  3. Track member renewals and send renewal letters, follow up on renewals.
  4. Assist with event registration and management.
  5. Assist members with website use and online networking opportunities.
  6. Refer member inquiries to appropriate committee chairs or specialists.
  7. Assist in the design and maintenance of Website.
  8. Staff events, providing attendee registration support and general customer service.
  9. Provide assistance for event planning and production as needed.

Skills and Expertise

  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on maintaining high satisfaction levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including meticulous proofreading and adherence to style and branding guidelines.
  • Deadline-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in office software, Google Workspace is desirable, social media management tools and WordPress.
  • Ability to learn and communicate complex information in an accessible manner.
  • Experience with membership databases and event platforms.
  • A background in the creative and cultural industries
  • An understanding of local government administration


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or related field OR three or more years of equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel out of town overnight, 2-3 times per year, including weekends.
  • Ability to work from a home office.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
