2019 Capture Photography Festival in Richmond
Call for Submissions
The Richmond Public Art Program and the Richmond Art Gallery are inviting emerging Musqueam artists or Musqueam artist collectives to apply for a public art opportunity to exhibit as part of Capture Photography Festival Canada Line Public Art Project in April 2019. The project will offer the selected artist/collective a mentoring opportunity with professional artist, Krista Belle Stewart (Upper Nicola Band of the Okanagan Nation) in the development of a new public photo-based work. The work will take the form of a large-scale photo installation at Brighouse Canada Line Station, Richmond, and will respond to the site.
Krista Belle Stewart is an artist and member of the Syilx Nation currently based on unceded Tsleil-Waututh, Musqueam and Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh territories (Vancouver, BC). Stewart works with video, land, performance, photography, textiles and sound, drawing out personal and political narratives inherent in archival materials while questioning their articulation in institutional histories.

Deadline October 25, 2018, 5:00pm PDT
Duration: April 2019 - April 2010
