1st Ave Mission Public Art Call
Mission Cultural Resources Commission
The District of Mission Parks, Recreation & Culture Department is seeking proposals for the design, fabrication and installation of original Public Art to coincide with the First Avenue Improvement Project in Mission. The successful Proponent will be required to enter into negotiation for an agreement with the District for the provision of the Project as described further in this RFP.
The First Avenue Ave Improvement Project includes road and streetscape upgrades on First Avenue from Grand Street to Horne Street in downtown Mission.
The District of Mission is inviting artists to participate in this public art competition. The selected artist will receive a commission to design, fabricate and install the original public art in downtown Mission. The intended outcome of this project is to enhance the public space and contribute to Mission’s unique cultural identity with original artwork.
This RFP is open to qualified professionals and artist teams, defined as having specialized training in the field or a history of having exhibitions as an artist, and who are recognized as artists by peers and art professionals. The successful Proponent is to start upon official project award and signing of the agreement with a completion and installation date no later than August 30, 2018.
