Brief

The Creative City Network of Canada is beginning the process of creating a fresh, streamlined, and interactive web environment for our members, non-members, and office use. We are seeking a designer or web developer who can work with us to bring our content management system up-to-date and into the future. This website has the potential to reach culture workers, artists, arts leaders, and more across Canada and internationally including those working at all levels of government.

Creative City Network of Canada

The Creative City Network of Canada (CCNC) is a national membership-based not-for-profit organization that exists to connect Canadian culture workers at the local level by providing tools and support systems to assist in their contribution to Canada’s cultural landscape. We have a vibrant community of members across Canada and a reputation as leaders in Canada’s municipal culture work scene. Our work includes impactful research publications, case studies, national events, and more, all catering to the support of culture workers throughout Canada’s towns and cities. Our website is the cornerstone of our offerings to clients (members).

Membership types within CCNC include Municipal, Organizational, and Individual categories. Our main service is to municipal culture departments across Canada.

Our organizational goals are:

  1. To provide a way for communities, large and small, to access each other’s experiences and expertise.
  2. To develop tools and resources for the community of practice in community development across Canada.

Objectives: Update, Assist, Grow

CCNC wishes to redesign its website with up-to-date functionality, a self-service membership environment, and a comprehensive backend database. As a small office with staff located across Canada, we require a website with administrative capabilities to help us streamline our work and improve our client (members) care while increasing outreach abilities. Our vision is that a new website will improve client satisfaction, activity, and ultimately grow our membership numbers and reputation within the Canadian culture sector while easing demands on office time. To achieve this, we have determined that a new website should include three distinct environments, each with a very clear function:

  1. A public-access landing area: limited resource access and call to action to become a member
  2. A robust Members Portal: interactive platform for Network activity and resources
  3. An easily maintained backend including an interactive database: used by the office to better document, communicate with, and understand clients (members) and other stakeholders

A fourth possible environment for board-level access is included in Priority Two Items.

We require a website that meets all standards for web accessibility (WCAG 2.0) as required by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) by January 1, 2021.

We are very interested in integrating e-commerce functionality to streamline payment processing for memberships, Job Board posts (non-membership access), resources (non-membership access), and more. We would like to integrate PayPal. Based on PayPal usage during the 2020 Membership Drive and vision for a strong membership growth call to action on the landing page of the new website, we anticipate an increase in e-commerce activity on this site.

Criteria for Selection

Please include:

  • Project lead/primary contact and any other team members; roles and similar prior work
  • Examples of previous work wherein priorities included similar backend administrative functions
  • Letters of reference and/or testimonials from previous clients
  • Detailed costing: rates based on team involved and estimated hours within each role
  • Timeline of deliverables

Contact and Submission

Please submit your proposal by July 5, 2020 at midnight PST.

Please note that the flexibility of the timeline is somewhat limited due to a need for functionality by December 1, 2020 in alignment with our annual membership registration. We will accept proposals that can aim to reach a launch date of early December.
