Canada (nationwide) – Canada Council Elder/Youth Legacy pilot program
The Canada Council for the Arts launched a pilot program in 2006 to support young Aboriginal artists learning from Elders. The Elder/Youth Legacy pilot program was meant to give Elders the opportunity to pass on the many art forms they practice to the next generation. Vancouver, BC – Redefining representation and claiming urban space at the Vancouver Art Gallery
Part of the Vancouver Art Gallery's 2006 FUSE event series, Choke showcased young First Nations artists and closely examined issues of claim and access to land and urban spaces. The event featured Hip-Hop, traditional and contemporary Aboriginal performances, interactive installations, live DJs and discussions between First Nations youth on redefining their culture and its media representations through their own voices. Press release (JPG, 420K)

Vancouver, BC – Storyscapes: Aboriginal stories of Vancouver
Launced in Spring 2003, Storyscapes is an initiative of the Social Planning Department of the City of Vancouver that supports Aboriginal people to share their stories through a variety of media: written form, video, public art, theatre, dance, song, mapping, poetry, visual art, photography.
